“Green Transformation in the Context of Global Change”
In the formal and intellectually stimulating atmosphere of the Green Transformation 2024 scientific conference, distinguished speakers, renowned experts, and scientists from around the world delivered insightful and up-to-date presentations on the latest research in this rapidly evolving field.
Notably, this year's conference was honored to welcome leading scholars such as Prof. Sadhan Kumar Ghosh from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India; Prof. Rizalinda De Leon from the University of the Philippines-Diliman; and Prof. Obid Tursunov from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, National Research University, Uzbekistan.
Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Hiệu, Chair of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that the primary goal of the Green Transformation Conference Series is to establish a leading interdisciplinary forum where scientists, researchers, and practitioners can present and discuss innovations and advances in the field of green transformation.
In addition, the conference aimed to foster networking and collaboration among participants by encouraging the exchange of knowledge from various disciplines, thereby promoting research and development in this crucial domain.
Throughout the event, scientists presented their latest research findings and scientific achievements across a wide range of topics, including policy, management, and experience in green transformation; emission reduction and energy transition; disasters, environment, and climate change, among others.
One of the conference’s highlights was the active participation of young researchers from universities and research institutes both in Vietnam and abroad. These emerging scientists showcased their creativity and expertise through research presentations, career-oriented discussions, and enthusiastic engagement in panel sessions with leading experts. Their contributions affirmed the conference’s role as a nurturing environment that offers development opportunities for the next generation of researchers.
The conference also served as an important platform for the scientific community to share practical insights and real-world solutions related to green transformation. Engaging discussions and in-depth presentations opened up new research directions and interdisciplinary cooperation opportunities, thereby fostering more sustainable and effective approaches to scientific research and application.
Three key messages emerged from the conference:
- First, green transformation is a global trend and a defining agenda of our time, and Vietnam is very much a part of this movement. The country has identified green transformation as a strategic choice and a primary driver for achieving sustainable economic growth. This was most clearly affirmed through Vietnam’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, declared at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).
- Second, green transformation is a long-term process that requires perseverance and proactive engagement from all sectors of society. Vietnam faces significant challenges in this journey, especially in terms of financing, legal frameworks, and effective implementation. However, in the long run, the benefits of green transformation will elevate the country to a new level of development, characterized by sustainable production and consumption.
- Third, green transformation demands innovative and creative thinking, breakthrough mechanisms, pilot models, and the application of advanced technologies. It also calls for the development of new approaches to mobilizing resources and fostering strong partnerships, including international collaboration. All segments of society must act now, work together, and contribute to accelerating and optimizing the green transformation process, thereby helping Vietnam meet its sustainable development goals.
This year’s Green Transformation Conference was not only a venue to highlight recent scientific achievements but also a forum for knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and the creation of new collaboration opportunities. The enthusiastic involvement of scientists, especially young researchers, created a vibrant and promising academic atmosphere, contributing meaningfully to the sustainable development of the scientific field.
